FAQS

French Road Cycle Trip Journeys End

What do you actually provide?

We provide inclusive 'made-to-measure-cycling tours through Normandy. The price includes transportation of non-cycling kit to your accommodation, a bike, your accommodation,a tailored itinerary and guidance.

What's the terrain like?

Normandy is neither flat nor mountainous but there are some hills. The coastal roads tend to undulate but there can be a few hill climbs whilst inland and riders can encompass a few steep hills. The routes are all perfect for the intermediate cyclist used to riding regularly.

What sort of a cyclist do I need to be?

Our routes are perfect for intermediate cyclists looking for something a little bit different. If you are in reasonably good shape and are comfortable with the distances you will be very comfortable with the routes. The intention is to provide compelling and challenging rides with memorable hospitality. If you are looking to cycle the Ventoux this is not it.

What's the accommodation like?

Basically as good as the budget will allow. In France, like most countries, you pay for what you get and we like to try to get memorable accomodation (for all the right reasons) to stay 'en route'.

Do I always need a guide?

If you know the country-side well you might be able to do without one and still have a good time. However, we do provide you with support, guidance and that little bit of local 'je ne sais quoi' to make sure you get the most out of your trip - the best routes, the best 'moules-frites' and of courses the best places to stay.

Are there any other costs?

Not really - we reckon that everything is covered in the price (except lunch and dinner). You don't have to stick to the plan but if you do stay 'on-piste' everything is covered.

What if I break down?

If you break-down we'll try and fix it there and then. There'll be a spare bike available should you need one.

Do I have to stick with the group?

Not at all, you can go as fast or as slow as you like. It's not a race and the objective is to enjoy the ride and the vista without busting a gut. There will be plenty of road and plenty to take in as we travel. It's not just about the ride - but it is all about the experience.

What's the accommodation like?

Its all pretty good quality and we are aiming at providing a high-quality combination of different stays sampling some splendid chateaux, local auberges and even some self-contained houses where we get looked after but local chefs.

What do I have to bring?

Well, aside from your bike and the normal accessories just a change of clothes for when we stop for the night.

How fit do I have to be?

We will aim for an average speed that suits our group without breaking any records but you should be comfortable with getting through the suggested daily mileage without putting yourself under any stress. There is plenty to take in as we ride and we don't want to miss anything. There will be daily lunch stops and various other stop-offs depending on what the plan for the day is.  If you want to sit out the day - no problem.

Do I have to cycle the whole distance?

Not if you don't want to. If you have had enough after lunch or just want to stop - just make your way back to the hotel under your own speed.

Do I need to bring my own bike?

You can but will can provide one for you. If this is the case you just need to tell us the size

How do I go ahead and make a booking with you?

If you are happy that you have all the information you need e.g. prices, transfers, itinerary etc. just confirm your booking and we will take a 25% deposit from you. We will then make all the necessary arrangements and you are good to go.
